Some of the policies described in the Policies and Guidelines are in abbreviated form. Many of the items mentioned are explained in greater detail in the Chapter Agreement.
Each Chapter is required to be operated by at least one non-profit Community Support Partner that qualifies as a tax exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.
Each Chapter is established for the purpose of promoting music education to disadvantaged children by way of providing new and used instruments, refurbishing used instruments, and financial support for music education programs.
In order to facilitate the collection of instruments and funds, Chapters are encouraged to engage in collecting donated instruments and activities such as hosting benefit concerts and partnering with businesses, institutions and other organizations.
The Community Support Partner shall be responsible for acknowledging donations of instruments and funds by a receipt and “thank you” letter. In the case of an instrument donation, the letter shall include the value of the instrument as estimated by the donor.
The Community Support Partner shall give a quarterly report to the MFLA headquarters of all donations received and the estimated value of such donations.
